A good May day for a front country hike! To give options for how far Shannon might want to test out her heal and newish boots we looped together Pine Ridge, Balsam, Long Prairie Loop, and bit of Death Valley. A snack at the top and picnic back at the trailhead worked out well for timing. Trails were muddy streams to mud to somewhat drying mud – but that’s May on horse trails I guess. Much of the route is treed but still pretty and satisfying to get out and move.
