20231009 | Taiga viewpoint | Max | TH | Dist | TA | w/ Konrad

In November of 2015 Peter and I attempted Taiga Viewpoint but were turned back as the snow was too deep and a slip would have sent us toward the ‘frozen’ lake… who knew how frozen. Peter later returned on a day I wasn’t along and tagged it… So I back-burnered this one for a larchish day. While kicking around ideas with Konrad with a bluebird forecast, it was agreed to be a great fit. This area has some western larch as well, which turn color a little later than the Lydals larch – so a nice bonus on the day.

This route crosses into BC and from the top one can see Frozen Lake, Fox Lake, Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lakes, and Elk Lakes. Pretty amazing spot for a moderate amount of effort.
