20231021 | Nihahi Ridge | TH |Max | km | TA | w/ Konrad

A repeat for both of us, but it’s been a while… Nov 2, 2008, late in the season as a personal reward for finishing my CLD submission (found my old blog to confirm – so attaching a low res photo). We wanted something suitable for a comfortable back by 5pm, and the day was shaping up for what was to be the last higher objective for a while. This ridge would be quite a challenge with some ice or snow!

The beginning of this trail was familiar, the Elbow loop, and the turnoff, after that until we gained the ridge it felt different. Like most places I’ve returned to the trail is much more banged in. Also braided in many places but eventually you attain the ridge. This is the best part of the trip and it was great that it was relatively calm. We found a flat spot for a good lunch break before retracing our steps. My knee was hanging up a bit so I had to take my time and the views gave lots of excuses for stopping. The downsloping trail was a little uncomfortable but not like that hasn’t been the theme for the year when the meniscus isn’t seated right. Hit up a sale at Breathe afterwards (Friends and family) to stock up on socks.
