2023-06-17 | The Orphan | 2614 Max | TH | 7.4 km | 888 TA | w/ Peter

A minor peak with neighbors of Rimwall Summit and the Three Sisters. We didn’t see a lot of people on this route but it seems to be popular with scramblers also tying in Middle Sister and/or making a shuttle thru hike/scramble. “Just” the Orphan suited our needs today.

Having a long work week and a late Friday night (Post Modern Jukebox concert) meant that 3:45am alarm jolted me to my feet scrambling to turn it off before it woke up Shannon.

This is the third ‘major’ trip on the damaged knee and similar to before the H tape job and careful foot placement worked just fine. The elevation went on easier than I imagined it would given the route takes in mostly rocky creek bed and drainages with steep rocky/ muddy sections. The creek was flowing and we passed many small waterfalls as we criss-crossed the creekbed.

At the summit we had a lunch break but the brisk wind when the sun went behind the clouds precluded any summit naps. This was a good trip with some quite varied terrain and lots of different views.

Back in Calgary by mid afternoon meant I could stop in at the office and setup the new printer / fight with the programming of the associated software. Normally a task that raises my blood pressure, lol.
