Davin joined me on this outing. He wanted to check out some the skiing opportunities at the Commonwealth creek area & since we would have two vehicles I figured a perfect opportunity for the Birdwood Traverse. Starting at Mt Engadine Lodge, up Commonwealth creek to Smuts Pass / Birdwood lakes, traverse between Mt Birdwood & Snow Peak thru the grizzly motel, then across to South Burstall pass & out to Burstall Day use area.
There was one potentially sketchy cliffy area that could have been problemantic if it had snow but it was clear & posed no problem. A brilliant fall color day if a bit on the windy side (not complaining!!).
