Little Wildhorse Canyon & Bell Canyon (San Rafael Swell)

Still early and still no rain to the west I decide to go check out my original plan only to find at least a dozen cars in the staging area. It is, as I was warned, popular. Originally I was going to loop the two canyons but I decided instead to go up each to the end of the narrow portion and turn back. I still wanted to go see the Goblins before the end of the day.

These are very cool canyons; sometimes very narrow sometimes less than a shoulder width apart up top to boot width at the bottom. I didn’t get all the way up Little Wildhorse as it sounded like the Griswold’s were stuck in it up ahead yipping at each other and barely moving. With no place to pass I opted to turn around and went up Bell a ways. Very interesting holes etc in the sidewalls of the canyon, these slots are one of my favorite parts of hiking in Utah.
