This week off is nice but this year, for whatever reason more than most, seemed to come too late and with the heat and smoke entering this week kinda tired. Sunday was packing and Monday forecast rain along the Icefields came making my tentative stops along the way a no go. Yet arriving in Jasper and all pegged in at my shiny new site at Whistlers campground by 4 worked out ok for the remainder of the day to jump on the bike and tour through town, down to Lake Annette, the fru-fru lodge, and generally take in the immediate area. Smokies for dinner and a good night sleep. The next morning after a bit of a late start I found the smoke heavy so opted to hike the Five Lakes Valley with a bunch of other people who make it less than my cup of tea. Back at camp I opted to bike again, this time to Pyramid lake where Shannon would catch up to me after driving out from Olds. An evening picnic at Pyramid Lake rounded out the day.
