Beaver Boat project: Construction October 2011.
Like all good things at Silverland this was a little while in coming. The concept was originally introduced by Greg Holm who also generously offered to fund the cost of materials. It turned out great and I can’t wait for a chance to see it loaded up with Beavers, although it will be fun for kids of all ages.
At the risk of missing someone: thanks to Greg Holm (concept, $$$, truck, labour, coffee & refreshments!), Jason Pocherewny (concept design), The Landscape Artist Inc (discount on materials, truck, skidsteer), Dwayne Dowie with Fortis Alberta (poles, digger truck), Mark Sawatzky (head carpenter), Matt Gass (machine operator, labour), Andrea Sawatzky (labour & making sure we didn’t starve), & all those who came out to help dig, mix concrete, cut & build: Dawn Gass, Jason Clark, Elaine Sullivan, Stewart Dalrymple, Darcy Finlay, Mike Bamlett, & assorted kids. Also thanks to all those who supported this initiative & provided input but could not attend the workbee. I guess I’ll take a small bow too (design, layout, cartage, machine, labour, photography, & bloody paperwork).
We also got a few related projects done while equipment and labour was on site. We graveling on the driveway (thanks to Keith at LaFarge for one free load of gravel & Matt Gass for spreading). We also constructed an outdoor canoe rack to free up some space inside. You will also notice a few more utility poles set for the purpose of anchoring pioneering projects. It was also a good opportunity to collect items no longer needed. Thanks in advance to Tracey Stagg for organizing taking away the debris pile.
This set is mostly photos straight out of the camera so it’s a bit lengthy. Thanks Dawn for catching me in a couple, I'm usually behind the camera!
